ISI Certification and registration
To ensure quality products be sold in the Indian markets, certain standards were introduced in the Indian markets after the Independence. ISI stands for ‘Indian Standards Institute’ the former name of the BIS and is identified with unique license number with seven digits (CM/L -XXXXXX).
Manufacturers have to acquire this ISI certification from India’s highest governing body i.e. Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) to sell specific products in India. ISI certification Mark on market products guarantees that manufacturing of the product has gone through the high-quality checks and follows regulation set by the Bureau of Indian Standards.
Registration Process:

- Assist in locating the right BIS approved test laboratories
- Visit and Testing product sample assistance

- Coordinate with the requirements and specification
- Smoothing the whole process until the final certification
Domestic Manufacturers Certification Scheme: Under this certification,an applicant is required to submit the application form to the local BIS Branch office after which a preliminary evaluation takes place by the corresponding BIS officer. Manufacturer place is checked for its capability, technical personnel and samples for independent testing. Grant of license is considered after a sample product passes the regular testing with respective Indian standards. The whole process generally takes around 4 months and 6 months in case of all India first licenses. There are also specific laboratories which test products and then these reports are needed to submit along with application form. With verification and testing, the acceptable license is granted too.
